List of Certified Instructor Education Organisations

Hey everyone!

Does anyone have a list of all of the organisations that can give the Level 2 (and up) certification?

I have my Level 1 and I am looking for the organisations with Level 2+ certifications, and I am sure that I am not alone in needing to find this information. Let's make it public knowledge, so that it is easier to obtain the Level 2+ certification.

Thanks,
Drew Geier

Hi Drew!

We are very excited about the positive reception and the strong engagement with the Motorsport Safety Foundation on the Certified Initiative. This initiative will roll out carefully during 2017. We are building the list of Level 1 instructors now after the launch on May 15th.

For new Level 1 instructors looking to engage the next training step toward Level 2 Certification, we will be listing those organizations here in the Forum as well by direct email communications with the Certified Level 1 Instructors.

These clubs and organizations often run “Instructor Clinics” on an annual schedule and/or have a process to develop instructors mid-cycle with attendance at driving events. These programs will be the resource for your Level 2 Certification.

For new Level 1 Certified Instructors who are not practicing instructors in one of the respected clubs or organizations, some reflection and local investigation may be helpful. What are your personal vehicle interests (brand, type, activity)? A search in your local community may be the best and fastest way to find a training program you want to be part of.

As mentioned in other threads, we are supporting the good training programs with Porsche Club, BMW Club, Audi Club, Hooked on Driving, Chin Motorsports, and others.

While you are supporting PCA, BMW Cub, Audi Club, HOD, Chin, and others, are they not supporting you?  Why aren't they endorsing this program or offering Level 2 certification?

Thank you for the question, John. Level 2 certification is established by organizations that have met the minimum standards for training as defined by MSF. The minimum standards require certain documentation and processes to be in place for acceptance. At this time the organizations are preparing the documentation in order to submit to MSF for approval. We are personally working with Chin, HOD and some regional PCA groups to prepare this documentation for submittal. In fact the RSR Region of the PCA were recently the first PCA group to receive approval for Level 2!

As you can imagine this is a process and it takes time. You will see a number of "endorsement" press releases in the coming weeks as the organizations submit their documents.

It was very critical to launch Level 1 and inform the community about the program. This Level 1 phase has gone exceedingly well and as we progress with the development of each Level we are depending on the organizations to provide feedback.

Again thank you for your question.

After going through BMW CCA's Instructor Training Program a few years back, and your Level 1 program just last week, I'm quite confident BMW's program is rigorous enough and aligns with your level 1 training to support grandfathering

Yet I have heard nothing since passing my test.  This puts me in a group of people who are wondering whether they are going to get grandfathered or not.  I would think it would be in the Foundation's best interest to get this grandfathering done quickly to quell a lot of the negativity being shared about this program from existing instructors.  The more certified instructors you have, the better support the program is going to get.

So, I humbly ask, what is the hold-up?  Why aren't you at least communicating with me since I was a pioneer and completed my Level 1?

David,

Thank you for your comments and inquiry on the MSF Forum.

There are really two big questions there.  Let me split them and deal with each one.

First.  Your Level 1 Certification moved through our internal process after you completed the testing; New, to On hold, to Confirmed now. That means we checked the details of your registration, the results of your testing, and appointed you as a Level 1 Instructor. Congratulations! You should have received an email from us when you first registered, again with directions on how to access the testing, and then on this status confirmation at the time it changed to Confirmed.

The Motorsport Safety Foundation is having some unexpected struggles with the fulfillment piece of our process. This has diverted attention and energy from the staff, which also stalled our communications plan. We must make sure you are getting only correct information and timing expectations from the staff here. Granted this is an excuse, but an honest one, so please be patient as we bring the deliverables to you. You will be getting a package from MSF that contains your Level 1 hard card, and more.

Second.  As stated earlier in this thread, the Level 2 Certification process is underway. It requires a significant coordination with the organizations that will be delivering the training and nominations for Level 2 Certification of individual instructors. This also applies to the “grandfathered” group. Our staff and leadership are working with each of the recognized organizations to bring in the instructors who should be grandfathered to Level 2. We have solid steps already taken with Porsche Club of America, BMW Car Club of America, Audi Club North America, Chin Motorsports, Hooked On Driving, and Sports Car Club of America, with more organizations anticipated.

Actual Level 2 Certification for the grandfathered instructors will be prioritized but it is not anticipated before the fall 2017 timeframe. Arrangements with each organization will have their own pace. As one example, we have already certified Level 2 instructors in one chapter of PCA. There are applications in from other Regions and Chapters in the groups mentioned in the previous paragraph. At least one organization that will be announced soon will be able to validate instructors from their national database.

Third.  We acknowledge your questions and the frustration with our communications that have been deployed so far. MSF will improve that so that you have a better idea of what to expect going forward.

Please feel free to send us an email at certified@motorsport-safety.org and we'll be happy to address any questions, concerns or suggestions you may have in the future. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your response, and I completely understand the growing pains for something new like this.  I appreciate your thoughtful response and I will remain patient.  :-)

Is there any ETA on when a specific driving school will be certified to persue the level 2 certifications?

Hi Bryan,

Thank you very much for reaching out! Please see my response to the comment above, which should answer your question about the Level 2-CERTIFIED organizations. As soon as new HPDE Instructor Training Programs become CERTIFIED, we will post this information to our website, send out a newsletter, inform everyone via our social media channels, etc. Please feel free to send us an email at certified@motorsport-safety.org and we'll be happy to address any questions, concerns or suggestions you may have in the future. Thanks again!
