Chin Track Days, one of the leading providers of non-competition track events in the USA, has become the first High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) program to achieve Level II certification of the new Motorsport Safety Foundation (MSF) CERTIFIED instructor initiative.
Mark Hicks, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Chin Track Days, says, “Chin Track Days has been a strong advocate for the Motorsport Safety Foundation since its beginning. When the MSF introduced the carefully developed certification for HPDE on-track instructors, we promptly embraced the program. The MSF then scrutinized our own in-house training protocols and eligibility criteria for instructors, and have now certified Chin Track Days as a Level II instructor training program. It is a privilege for us to reinforce our alliance with the Motorsport Safety Foundation by strongly advocating for the new MSF CERTIFIED Instructor Program. Chin Track Days has long been a practitioner of structured protocols when it comes to instructor qualification, and our leadership team even contributed content to the MSF certification program.”
Chin Track Days’ Event Manager Jim Pomroy is the staff liaison with the MSF. “The first step for any instructor is to complete the MSF Level I certification online,” says Jim. “Then, Chin can lead a Level I instructor to Level II qualification through our certified program. We actively encourage any track day enthusiast who is serious about instructing to enroll in the MSF Level I certification program. And, it's not just for new instructors. Veteran instructors who are already well qualified will benefit from the high-value instructor development content in the program.”
Mark Hicks added, “We congratulate the Motorsport Safety Foundation, Scot Elkins, and Ross Bentley for taking on the substantial burden and initiative to standardize instructor qualification protocols. Chin Track Days is pleased to be one of the MSF’s partners for standard-setting safety practices in track days.”
Chin Track Days’ non-competition program places emphasis on fun and advanced driver skill training rather than racing. Chin Track Days holds HPDE programs at some of the most prestigious tracks in the USA, including Sebring, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, VIR, COTA, and many more. Like the Motorsport Safety Foundation, Chin Track Days believes that safety is always the number one priority.
