Max Verstappen is certainly one of the rising stars in Formula One & now Moto GP legend Valentino Rossi has now explained why racing alongside the Dutchman can be dangerous or unsafe.
Verstappen has made waves in F1 since making the step up to Red Bull from Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2016 and next year he’ll be hoping to carry the momentum where he left during the 2017 campaign.
Verstappen has been touted as a potential F1 champion due to his willingness to put his pedal to the metal. Even Niki Lauda praised the young Dutchman & said he sees a future Champion in him.
Rossi has now opened up why he feels the 20-year-old’s style can be bad news for his rivals.
"Verstappen is like [Johann] Zarco, neither one of them ever brakes,” Rossi explained to Italian outlet GP One.
“You have to move to the side with him, because the danger is that both of you will end up going out.”
Former F1 chief Flavio Briatore recently praised Verstappen’s racecraft.
“Verstappen is Formula One’s new star,” he said
“He’s doing quite well, but they’re trying to ‘kill’ him. It’s crazy. If I was running F1, I’d want to see twelve Verstappens on the grid!
“Max is an exceptional driver. He’s young, he mocks the system and he overtakes. The public loves those qualities.”
