Are there color restrictions for safety marshal apparel? If so, what are the allowed colors marshals can wear during racing events?
The traditional color for marshals in the US has been white. Obviously from watching F-1, the European marshals seem to favor orange. The colors that mirror fthe major flag colors (yellow, red, green) are considered undesirable. A quick search of the FIA regulations does not show any color requirements. Because I'm an American traditionalist, I'm all for white.
Thank you very much!
I must say though that I have personally seen marshalls in white overalls as a driver and confused them with a white flag implying "slow moving vehicle". I personally would prefer a bright orange which is obviously not related to any flags and it is an international color for safety personnel. Thoughts?
What are the needed specs for Marshal overalls? Would it have to be single layer Nomex? 2? 3? SFI approved or FIA? I would like to design a Marshal specific overall with MOMO. What are the needed pockets, belt loops for radios, zippers, features and MAX price.
I would think that single layer Nomex would be sufficient, SFI approved. As for pockets, a zippered breast pocket front and rear pants-type pockets, and possibly a utility pocket in one thigh area would be sufficient. I don't think belt loops would be necessary, most belts worn (for radios, etc.) don't require loops. As for max price, I would open it up for suggestions, but based on what I was seeing online for non-Nomex overalls, I would think something in the $90 range would be a good price if you could get it.
