Porsche Club of America: Florida Citrus Region

FLORIDA CITRUS REGION OF PORSCHE CLUB OF AMERICA BECOMES CERTIFIED BY THE MOTORSPORT SAFETY FOUNDATION

Motorsport Safety Foundation Grants Level II Certification to Porsche Club of America – Florida Citrus Region’s HPDE Instructor Training Program

The Florida Citrus Region of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) has achieved Level II certification in the Motorsport Safety Foundation’s CERTIFIED High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) instructor training initiative. Established in 1974, the organization has grown from 25 members to over 1,100 Porsche owners and enthusiasts living in Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties. The Florida Citrus Region of PCA hosts a number of driving and social events led by a team of experienced drivers and instructors throughout the year.

“We are very honored to receive Level II certification, and commit to continuing and building upon our long tradition of training new Driver’s Education (DE) instructors. The Motorsport Safety Foundation’s CERTIFIED program seeks to standardize instructor training standards throughout the country – a much needed approach,” said Chief Driving Instructor Bert Del Villano.

CERTIFIED was established to improve the standards and operations of HPDE schools, instructor training programs and instructors in order to provide a safer and better quality experience for all involved. The motorsport safety nonprofit believes it is important that all instructors work from the same baseline, and continue their training at an Instructor Training School (ITS) that offers a curriculum that covers, at a minimum, the standards outlined by the Motorsport Safety Foundation.

On Friday, February 9, 2018, the Florida Citrus Region of PCA is hosting an instructor school and clinic at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, GA. Eligible candidates wishing to achieve status as MSF Level II Instructors and PCA National Instructors can attend the program, which will include role-playing and classroom participation. More information about this event can be found on the Florida Citrus Region of PCA website (flc.pca.org).

“Florida Citrus Region of PCA has trained hundreds of DE instructors,” said Ron Zitza, Co-Founder of its Driver’s Education program. “We are pleased that we will now be able to award MSF Level II approval for further recognition,” added fellow Co-Founder Mark Peebles.
