Greetings from the Ambassador

My first experience on pit lane, under live race conditions, resulted in tremendous respect from me.  This is coming from someone who had "been there- done that" in racing safety.  I had been asked to use my skills as a race official on pit road...what an amazing experience.  Between all of us, I'm sure we represent an abundance of experience and expertise.  Let's talk about issues and questions that come up here!  Working pit lane as a firefighter/safety person or as a race official is exciting...and needs to be taken seriously.  Your participation matters.

I work Pit Fire for San Francisco Region SCCA. At each station we have a 4 gal. pressurized water extingusher and a 3 lb. chemical extingusher. Recently I have found the water extingusher to be more useful than the chemical, when a car comes into the hot pit lane, as it can be used to spray water on top of an oil or fuel spill/leak to keep it from ignighting from hot engines.
