DTM drivers have called for the Hungaroring pitlane to be resurfaced following a chaotic race on Sunday, which featured three separate pitlane incidents. Drivers had to pit on slick tyres in wet conditions as heavy rain started to fall during the race. Mercedes driver Lucas Auer was unable to stop at his position and slid into the pit building, before Edoardo Mortara and Bruno Spengler were caught up in similar incidents and the race was subsequently red-flagged. Seven people, including BMW and Mercedes mechanics, marshals and firemen, were left injured. Gary Paffett, who...

Renault Formula 1 junior Jack Aitken has labeled Formula 2's new car problems "unacceptable", "unsafe" and "unbelievable" after more issues in Monaco. There were two stalls in Saturday's Monaco sprint race, and Luca Ghiotto crashed into the back of Tadasuke Makino's stalled car off the grid. Aitken started second but lost out to Lando Norris off the line due to a throttle pedal sensor failure that forced him to retire soon afterwards, and took to social media afterwards to complain about the number of problems experienced with the new-for-2018 car.I’m a big one for positive thinking, not...

Historic Formula Ford driver Nelson Rowe credited two spectators and a competitor for saving his life after he was dragged from his car while engulfed in flames at Cadwell Park. The double Historic Formula Ford champion won last Saturday's race and was disputing the lead of race two when he collided with Cameron Jackson at Charlie's corner - a long, uphill right-hander that tightens at the end - on lap three. Jackson had missed a gear, catching Rowe out. His Crossle was launched over Jackson's Lola and landed inverted in the grass, with its engine bay bursting into flames. Fellow...

The FIA has explained why Ferrari's "liberal" and "tenuous" interpretation of the Formula 1 rules around mounting mirrors on the halo has been banned after just one race. Ferrari became the first team to roll out mirrors attached to the cockpit protection device at the Spanish Grand Prix, placing a winglet above the housing supporting it. It attracted attention from several teams, with Force India technical director Andrew Green admitting he thought that design was not allowed, but it was passed legal for the weekend. It emerged that the FIA had sought to clarify that Ferrari would need...

Ferrari has unveiled the most creative use of Formula One's Halo device so far, having mounted its rear-view mirrors on the structure. The Spanish Grand Prix is traditionally the first opportunity for Formula One's European-based teams to introduce significant upgrades after four races in the southern hemisphere. Much of the intrigue so far this week has been around Ferrari's decision to place its mirrors on the side of the Halo along with an extra winglet. Ahead of the last race in Baku, the FIA clarified the rules around the safety device - controversially made mandatory for the 2018...
