Nonprofit receives 40-meter debris fence from Swiss safety systems manufacturer
Global protection systems company Geobrugg has donated 40 meters of debris fencing to the Motorsport Safety Foundation's Adopt-a-Corner initiative. In order to help race circuits keep up with the industry's increasingly expensive economic landscape, Adopt-a-Corner gives an individual or business the chance to donate a safety barrier upgrade in exchange for a branding contract at the track. This mutually beneficial partnership improves the race track's safety standards by providing added crash protection with FIA-approved barrier upgrades.
"We are very grateful to Jochen Braunwarth, John Kalejta and everyone at Geobrugg for their generosity and support," said Scot Elkins, chief operating officer of the Motorsport Safety Foundation. "Because of this incredible contribution, we are now able to provide race tracks in need of updated debris fencing with 10 state-of-the-art panels."
Headquartered in Switzerland, Geobrugg develops and manufactures protection systems made of high-tensile steel wire, supplying a variety of motorsport barriers for city races, permanent race circuits and test tracks around the world. Its FIA debris fence delivers maximum protection against high-energy impacts and has been produced according to Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) specifications. Designed for diverse circuit layouts, shortcuts and city race circuits, the panels offer a fully bolted solution for both temporary and permanent track safeguarding. Furthermore, the unobtrusive net structure ensures that spectators get the best possible view without compromising safety.
The Motorsport Safety Foundation plans to offer these debris fence panels to interested race tracks based in the United States. The installation will be a showcase for Geobrugg and an opportunity for the Motorsport Safety Foundation to help a race track experience the latest in debris fence technology. About the Motorsport Safety Foundation
The Motorsport Safety Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving safety standards in motorsport. It is a community where the motorsport industry can come together and have a single voice, a place to share safety concerns and collaborate on research. The charity, founded in honor of late professional racecar driver Sean Edwards, continuously works to amend those issues that can prevent another driver, crew member, marshal, or even fan from serious injury or death.
Geobrugg, an operating company of the Swiss BRUGG Group, globally develops and manufactures protection systems made of high-tensile steel wire. These safety systems are used for reliable protection against natural hazards such as rock fall, debris flow, landslides, avalanches or as a safety measure in building and mining tunnels, fish farms, motorsports, architecture and proving grounds. More than 65 years of experience and close collaboration with research institutes and universities make Geobrugg the leading expert for safety solutions.
